Material exploration in concrete medium, clay, and paint
Material and visual research + jacquard trials
I am grounded in the beautiful history of my home.
This jacquard-woven piece explores the journey of finding one's identity in the history and traditions that is struggling to be preserved.
Through the careful observation and meditation of the materials found in the artist’s home town, this jacquard-woven fabric acts as a visual and tactical expression of the process of being rooted and uprooted as a foreigner in a familiar, but simultaneously a strange land.
It strives to explore Eva Hesse's statement: "Art is an artifact of the process".
